Major events not to miss in Porto in July 2015

Locals and tourists alike will confirm that no visit to Portugal could ever be the same without a stop by the prosperous and eventful invincible city of Oporto. If you are planning on coming for a visit in the near future, here are the major  events not to miss in Porto in July 2015.

One of the greatest auto events in the city, hosted by the Boavista Circuit, is the Grande Premio do Porto, an F1 racing contest for vintage models. Until the 1960s, this challenging circuit, Boavista, used to stage Formula One contests, so in honor of this glorious past, this event welcomes vintage cars and their drivers in a display of speed and class.

The MEO Mares Vivas is one of the best summer music festivals in Porto. Scheduled to take place between July 16th and 18th in Vila Nova de Gaia, more precisely Praia do Cabedelo, this event is expected to welcome an international audience, especially since great, well-known artists like Ana Moura and Lenny Kravitz have confirmed their participation. This year’s is going to be the 13th edition of the MEO Mares Vivas festival.

First organized in 2004, the Serralves Festival, scheduled to take place this July 2015, has imposed itself among the greatest contemporary art festivals. Offering 40 hours of music, dance, theatrical performance and film, along with other events and activities, this is a moment not to miss for any arts and culture lovers.

On the 4th of July, a huge (300 m) water slide will be installed on a Porto highway, so you can look into that if you like water sports.

Apart from exciting events, this July 2015 can be the best time to book a Porto tour and travel along the magnificent, green Douro river, the greatest wine-producing regions in Portugal or admire the beautiful architecture and art of the old town center.
