1. As seen by the delight of children adjusting to the traditions of this Anglo-Saxon holiday, Halloween in Portugal is growing in popularity every year. But the truth is that tradition is still very much alive in Portugal and most people continue to observe traditional holidays.
Every year on November 1st, the Portuguese commemorate All Saints’ Days, a national holiday in Portugal and a significant festival for many Roman Catholic nations.
Portuguese people gather with friends and family to remember loved ones who have passed away on November 1st, a holiday celebrated from North to South. It is also a day on which Catholics honor saints, martyrs and other revered members of the Christian community.

2. On November 11, people commemorate Saint Martin’s Day. In order to help a beggar stay warm, Saint Martin, a Roman soldier, split his cloak in two. As a result, the sun came out and warmed the beggar.
Warm winter days at the start of November are hence referred to as Saint Martin’s Summer. The first wine of the season is ready at this time and the chestnuts begin to ripen.
The Portuguese commemorate this day, known as Magusto, with bonfires, gatherings, lots of chestnuts and meals cooked with them and água-pé, a weak wine created from diluted leftovers.
In Portugal, the northern regions of Trás-os-Montes, Beira Baixa (particularly Alcains), Goleg and Penafiel host the most enduring Saint Martin’s Day celebrations.

3. The start and finish lines of the November Porto Marathon are located in the Parque da Cidade do Porto.
Three different distances are available to participants: the 42 km run, the 15 km run, or the 6 km walk. Although it is evident that the trail is meant for the more athletic ones, it is wonderfully gorgeous and worthwhile jogging or walking on any day and at any pace.
This might be the best way to get rid of all the extra calories if you went to the National Gastronomy Festival the previous month.

4. The Algarve in southern Portugal is lucky to experience a fairly pleasant autumn. Temperatures don’t drop as much, so you can still go to the beach in light clothing even if it gets colder and rainier. The Algarve excels in sunny fall days.
The Algarve’s deserted beaches are undoubtedly its best feature in the fall. Although there is nature everywhere around, the colors don’t vary as dramatically in the southern part because there are more beaches and fewer trees there.

5. The north of Portugal experiences the most traditional and conceivably most beautiful autumn. Some of Portugal’s coldest and wettest cities, including Porto, are located in this region.
For those who prefer the cold, the weather is fortunately great because it occasionally has sunny days.
Several of the towns close to Porto are remain rather calm, even during the busiest months. But when Porto’s serenity and autumnal atmosphere come together, it creates a moment worth savoring for all time.
The botanical gardens in Massarelos and similar ones become more beautiful and sitting in the parks becomes a regular practice.

Discover and enjoy autumn’s most beautiful festivals, events and attractions, always counting on Portugal Low Cost Transfers for magnificent adventures with your family and friends!

1. Mercado do Bolho

In the heart of Porto, Portugal, is the old covered market known as Mercado do Bolho. It was constructed in the late 19th century and for more than a century, it has served as the city’s main center for the food and agriculture industries.
The market is renowned for the enormous variety of stalls selling fresh commodities such meats, flowers, and fruit.
It’s a terrific spot to experience the local culture and sample some of the mouthwatering cuisine the area has to offer.
The market is located in a stunning Art Nouveau-style structure with two wings projecting out on either side and a center hall coated in glass.

2. Livraria da Baixa

Have you ever pondered what a bookstore and café/bar from the 1920s would look like combined? This fusion is available in Porto! Books, beverages, “petiscos” and music all go hand in hand at Livraria da Baixa.
The combination of the antique furnishings and the pleasure of reading a book while sipping a drink results in the calming and lovely atmosphere.
This location also happens to be in the town’s hippest district.

3. Ribeira

In the center of Porto, Portugal, sits the lovely and ancient Ribeira area. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is well renowned for its winding lanes, brightly painted homes and charming squares.
The area offers breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding countryside and is situated along the banks of the Douro River.
Small stores, cafes, and eateries abound in this area, making it a terrific destination to explore on foot. You can buy a wide range of regional items and products, such as apparel, handcrafted crafts and other mementos.
The S. Francisco Church, the Porto Cathedral and the Clérigos Tower are just a few of the neighborhood’s historical and cultural landmarks.

4. The Foz lighthouses

The Foz lighthouses are situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty at the confluence of the Douro River and the Atlantic Ocean, making this location particularly unique and deserving of a visit.
At this location, you can take an energizing walk in the mornings or nights along the water toward the three lighthouses. Then, take a seat in one and enjoy the tranquility of the sea, the fisherman, the wind and the sea breeze.
Since the city won’t be visible at all if you gaze directly at the ocean, you might nearly believe you are at sea level.

5. Foz Velha

The most enjoyable times to get lost in Foz Velha’s charming old streets are during weekends. Try out Flor do Gás, a small boat taxi that only exists to ferry people (and bicycles) over the Douro river, while exploring this area.
It crosses the river every 15 minutes and has been doing so since 1961.
The ride offers a fresh perspective from which to appreciate the Arrábida bridge and locate the point at which the river empties into the Atlantic Ocean.
There are a number of straightforward eateries with a good selection of regional foods, primarily fish-related, on both banks of the river.

Discover Porto’s hidden attractions, always relying on Porto Transfers for easy and high-quality taxi services with your dear ones, forever creating new unforgettable memories!

1. RFM SOMNII
For three days, between 7th and 9 th of July, the RFM SOMNII will be delivering the sounds of the world’s top DJs to Figueira da Foz’s expansive Praia do Relógio beach.
This festival’s unique ingredients- sun, beach and a ton of electronic music in a gorgeous natural setting- attract a growing number of people every year.
The goal of this event, which has been going on for more than 20 years, is still the same- to promote Portuguese music and mark the end of the city’s rock festival season.

You definitely should plan a vacation to Porto, a relatively tiny coastal city in northwest Portugal on the banks of the Douro River, if you are passing through Europe and have some extra time.

Porto makes it simple to fall in love. Lisbon has a huge city feel, while Porto has a lot more personality. Porto is a very alluring European travel destination thanks to its charming alleyways, friendly locals, expanding culinary scene, and long-standing wine tradition.
You’ll decide to stay in Porto for the rest of your life if you add an endless list of other enjoyable activities to do there.

1. Riberira Square
Ribeira Square is an absolute must-see if you’re in Porto. A Unesco World Heritage Site, this area of the old city is situated beside the Douro.
Take a rabelo boat across the river, sway back and forth while admiring the Luz I, D. Maria II, and Arrábida bridges for fantastic backdrops for dramatic photos.
Stop by the Bacalhoeiros Wall, the Casa do Infante museum, the Rua da Reboleira, Cubo Square, the So Nicolau Church and the sculpture “Alminhas da Ponte” by Teixeira da Lopes.

2. Sao Bento train station
The traditional train station serves as a transportation hub for getting to other locations. And let’s face it, while they do beat airport departure lounges, most train stations aren’t exactly wonderful locations to kill time.
Estaço de So Bento is an entirely separate unexpected place. A Belle Epoque façade and a famous interior with 20,000 painted tiles characterize this former convent. The walls were decorated by artist Jorge Colaço with pictures from the nation’s past, including appropriately scenes from daily life and types of transportation.
Discover this amazing place while travelling, it’s absolutely worth it!

3. Claus Porto
Over the course of its more than 130-year history, the soap and fragrance company Claus Porto has endured kings, republics, dictatorships, and revolutions.
The store itself is the first thing you notice when you walk into the area where the Porto Marionette Museum originally stood. Everything from traditional soaps to body creams and colognes can be purchased there. The history of this brand, which has been around for four generations and counting, is portrayed in a gallery on the second floor using hand-drawn illustrations, lithographs, pictures, and newspaper clippings.
Additionally, you can learn how to produce these products during regular workshops.

4. Palacio do Cristal
One of the most well-known areas to roam around at the Invicta is Palacio do Cristal.
Enjoy the sweeping views, the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library, the Quinta da Macieirinha Romantic Museum, and the Palace itself, which frequently hosts excellent exhibitions.
There are statues, water features, enormous trees and an abundance of flowers, surrounded by magnificent peacocks playing in the vegetation. Don’t miss this extraordinary location for unforgettable moments!

5. O! Galeria
This amazing place should be on a bucket list on any tour of Porto’s illustration district and acts as a platform and development center for emerging artists from both the local and global communities.
You can discover prints, books, t-shirts, tote bags, and a variety of other items here in addition to original artwork that you’ll want to take home with you. Some of the illustrators who add color to the walls of this location, in the city’s most creative district, include Mariana A. Miserável, Ana Seixas, David Penela, Angela Dalinger, Maria Imaginário, and Tina Siuda.
Learn about the other galleries in the vicinity while you are here, as O! Galeria is located in Miguel Bombarda, the arts district.

Enjoy fascinating moments with your family and friends with Porto Taxi for reliable and high quality taxis services while discovering Porto and its marvels!

Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, Porto is a mesmerizing city, which has a distinctive ambience with elegant communities and sizable villas perched on winding cobblestone alleys and is situated in the north of Portugal at the exit of the Douro River.

People typically think of traveling to Portugal’s capital city, Lisbon, when they first consider doing so. Although Porto, which was named “The City to Visit This Year” by Forbes in 2017, is the country’s second-largest city after Lisbon, but not the second-best! The lovely city of Porto is situated along the Douro river 280 kilometers north of Lisbon. Porto, one of the top 100 cities in the world with the most foreign tourists, is the home of Port wine, street art, and “francesinhas.”

1. Palacio da Bolsa
The Palácio da Bolsa, a sizable Neoclassic building built on the site of the former St. Francis Convent, is next to the Sao Francisco Church. The palace was constructed as a stock market and financed by the Porto commercial association with the intention of impressing Europe’s business titans. The structure was designed by a number of architects during the course of its approximately 70-year construction. The Arab Room, created in a Moorish style by Gustavo Adolfo Gonçalves e Sousa, is a highlight of any palace tour. The remarkable area, one of Porto’s most well-liked tourist attractions, is still employed as a receiving hall for distinguished guests arriving today.

2. Clerigos Tower
The Igreja dos Clerigos, or Church of the Clergy, tower’s 18th-century tower is a stunning example of baroque extravagance. The Torre dos Clerigos, a landmark and must-see site in Porto, was created in 1754 by Italian painter and architect Nicolau Nasoni. With a height of about 76 meters, the elaborate tower is one of the tallest buildings in Northern Portugal. A panoramic view of the city and the Duoro river estuary is the prize for those who make the 255-step climb to the tower’s belfry.

3. Cais da Ribeira
The riverside neighborhood of Porto is a mesmerizing maze of winding, winding streets, zigzagging passageways, and low-slung, sun-starved arcades. The Ribeira is a journey in flavor and color, with terraces of grand townhouses painted in vibrant mustard, tangerine, and tawny hues that face the River Douro.
This is the most well-liked location in the city for unwinding and socializing due to the abundance of eateries and cafés situated beneath the arches along the quayside. Furthermore, the riverfront area, Praça da Ribeira, is a well-liked gathering place with a dynamic, youthful energy.

4. Crystal Palace Gardens
Visit the Crystal Palace (“Palácio de Cristal”) gardens, which were created in the 19th century by German landscape architect Émile David, when you need a breath of fresh air in the middle of the city. Eight hectares of lavish vegetation, intimate corners, and belvederes with breathtaking river views make up the gardens. Additionally, the Porto Municipal Gallery, whose exhibitions are good and free, and the Quinta da Macieirinha Romantic Museum are nearby.

5. World of Discoveries
At this modern interactive museum and theme park, Portugal’s remarkable Age of Discovery, a period of conquest and discovery, is recreated with astounding detail. Through a series of in-depth displays and displayed animations, the treacherous journeys of Portuguese navigators in the 15th century, setting sail in fleets of frail caravels to navigate uncharted waters and map new countries, are brought to beautiful life. But the true adventure starts once you board a boat and travel to places like Brazil, which Pedro lvares Cabral explored in 1500, and Vasco da Gama, who in 1498 charted a maritime route from Portugal to India. For all ages, this is a fantastically entertaining and educational event.

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is a significant holiday in the Catholic faith, in some regions of Europe being often referred to as the “Easter of the summer”. This is the main feast of the Blessed Virgin, the mother of Jesus Christ, and is also referred to as the “Dormition of the Virgin Mary”. In some regions of Europe, because of its calendar date, it’s also known as the “Feast of Our Lady of the Harvest”.

2. Noites Ritual Rock
The Noites Ritual Rock festival has been held in Porto for 30 years and it hosts regional bands who seek to surprise and to delight their audience with new vibes and fresh musical notes. The concerts and other events will be performed in the Crystal Palace’s grounds throughout the entire month of August by musicians looking to gain notoriety.
The festival serves as a symbol of the conclusion of the rock festival season in Porto as well as a platform for Portuguese music. Additionally, the festival hosts workshops and exhibitions of photography and art.
Enjoy this festival experience, have a good time and make new memories with your friends and dear ones!

3. Neopop Festival

An absolutely marvellous city of contrasts, where architectural styles harmoniously intertwine, scents and colors beautifully merge and infinite attractions collide, Porto is the accurate expression of vibrant life and authenticity.
Discover an original way of enjoying the marvels and surprises of this city, which will definitely win your heart!

If you want to take a ride to the past and reconnect with the historical spirit of this wonderful place, the best way is simply buying a ticket and enjoying an unforgettable travel with the historical tram of Porto, is one of the oldest electrified transport systems in Europe, being inaugurated in 1895.
For example, linha 1 departs from Infante and extends to the Passeio Alegre park following the river Douro to reach Foz do Douro. This trip in an authentic charming tram is full of romance and a great way to discover in passing the Solar do vinho do porto (the wine institute), the Museo Carro Electrico and some splendid buildings and landscapes. A tram comes along every twenty minutes or so and they run between 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon.

To fully discover Porto’s spirit and history you cannot miss Foz do Douro. You’ll be amazed by an incredible quality of life (these beaches proudly display the blue flag eco-label, a sign of high quality unpolluted seawater), the animated and colorful places and the most romantic walks while admiring the breathtaking landscapes of the sunset.
The pergola was built in the 1930s as part of an improvement project to improve and embellish the avenue do Brazil and to develop the area.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, Ribeira, Douro’s riverfront, is the most emblematic quarter and part of the historic centre of Porto. Have a stroll through the narrow streets of Ribeira and Miragaia district to discover the real appeal and spirit of this place and to find Porto’s soul. Its sinuous enchanting alleys, its wonderful crowded houses clinging to the hillside, its fresh linen hanging from balconies, its buildings faced with distinctive glazed blue patterned tiling represent the true and real nature of Porto, its ravishing authenticity and the raw, unmasked development of daily life. This is the ideal place to rejoice a walk alongside the Douro, you cannot miss the Ponte Luís I, while admiring the spectacular Ponte Luís I – the metal arch bridge that spans the river between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Discover the wonderful and unique views over Porto and its surroundings by taking the opportunity of visiting Dos Clérigos Tower. This ornate, 75-metre bell tower, which watches over the city of Porto, is arguably the city’s most iconic silhouette. It was opened in 1763 and is blessed with a beautiful barrage of Baroque motifs thanks to its Italian designer Nicolau Nasoni. Given its prominent position, you can get some amazing 360° views of the city from the top, but you’ll have to climb 225 steps to get there.

When in Porto, you definitely have to visit as many places as you can, discover all the mysteries this astonishing city holds and live to the fullest every single moment. But whenever you feel tired, but still feel like visiting and enjoying places and moments, the funicular railway will gently take down the steep cliff from Batalha (on the higher ground of central Porto) to the quayside at Ribeira. One of the highlights of taking this means of transportation are the spectacular views you get of Dom Luís I Bridge, Porto’s medieval city walls and the various wine cellars on the waterfront.
The railway was originally built to facilitate the movement of cargo, particularly Port wine, being inaugurated in 1891 and later renovated in 1994.

Come and visit the charming city of Porto with your friends and family, always relying on Porto Airport Transfer for the best sightseeing tours and transfer services with excellent conditions. Have the best holiday in Porto, enjoying countless adventures and creating new unforgettable memories!

The marvellous city of Porto, which is considered the capital of the north and as the second largest city in Portugal, is a historic mercantile city with charm and beauty written into its very name, eager to welcome thousands of visitors every year!
Porto’s most striking characteristic is that of ”faded grandeur”. There are very few remaining cities in Europe that can do ”faded grandeur” quite on the scale of Porto, you’d have to travel to Cuba or Argentina for competition. The feeling is accentuated by the mix of Baroque, Neoclassical and splash of Belle Epoque architecture, all in varying degrees of preservation.

The centre is a World Heritage site, outstanding by the rich and various heritage: the medieval walls, gleaming Baroque churches, the compact streets of the Ribeira district, the Romanesque Cathedral and that’s just the beginning.
There are a lot of things to discover in this beautiful fascinating city and definitely lots of amazing places to admire and live at its fullest!

To fully discover Porto and its history, you definitely have to visit Foz do Douro. Facing the Atlantic you’ll be amazed by an incredible quality of life, the utmost romantic walks, where every evening sun and sea merge into one spectacular climax.

These beaches proudly display the blue flag eco-label, a sign of high quality unpolluted seawater. Take a stroll under the “Pergola da Foz” , which was built in the 1930′s as the Mayor’s wife fell in love with the “Promenade des Anglais” in the French town of Nice, and she simply had to have the same in Porto. Here it is called the “Praia dos Ingleses” a reminder that the English (and other British citizens) have always enjoyed a close relationship with Portugal.

The Porto Cathedral is one of the most attracting destinations when traveling to this city. The Cathedral dates from the 12th century but underwent several transformations over time. It’s located in an elevated part of the city, near what remains of the walls. You can see that its facade is clearly Romanesque, presenting two towers and a rose window in the center. However, most of its style is Baroque, such as the side facade and some elements inside. The cloister presents a Gothic style. It is one of the oldest buildings in Porto having witnessed the wedding of the king John I with English princess Philippa of Lancaster in 1387. Porto Cathedral is not very large, yet there are several areas that can be visited.
The Gothic cloister is very attractive. On the walls it has seven 18th century panels of tiles with scenes of the mystical dialogue between God and the Virgin. The sacristy is a beautiful room highly decorated in baroque style. Its walls are colorful and they display sacred art as well as attractive furniture. The Chapter House is an 18th century building. Some of its walls are also covered with tile panels, and here we can see various religious sculptures. The Chapter House’s ceiling attracts the attention due to its paintings made by Giovani Battista Pachini. They represent 14 moral allegories around Saint Michael.

Sitting atop a bluff, the gorgeous botanical garden Crystal Palace is one of Porto’s best-loved escapes, with lawns interwoven with sun-dappled paths and dotted with fountains, sculptures, giant magnolias, camellias, cypress and olive trees. It’s actually a mosaic of small gardens that open up little by little as you wander – as do the stunning views of the city and Rio Douro.
This was the site of Porto’s Crystal Palace, which lasted from 1865 to 1961 and was modelled on the monument in London. These gardens were devised to complement that palace and were landscaped by the German Émile David.
Its design is still in place, and there are fountains and allegorical sculptures to the seasons. The gardens are planted with gingko, pines, camellias, rhododendrons and beech trees, and your path might be crossed by a peacock or two.
Have the most impressive and breathtaking adventure in rejoicing the views over Porto, Gaia and the Douro! The Crystal Palace Garden has definitely got one of the best views in Porto.

No matter what you’re visitiong while in Portugal, fitting in time for the beach it’s a must. The coast in the north is a bit more rugged and very romantic, and Porto’s Foz do Douro also has the Pergola da Foz which adds an extra enchanting element.
Probably the most easy to access are the string of rock and sand beaches in Foz where you will be spoilt for choice of beachfront cafe. However, for the real beachgoer there is only one choice – Matosinhos beach with its wide stretch of fine golden sand and consistently good surf.
A little further afield there are some truly great beaches in the resort towns of Espinho, Esposende, Vila do Conde and the Aveiro area, all of which can be visited as a day trip from Porto.

Believe it or not, the tram in Porto is one of the oldest electrified transport systems in Europe, as it was inaugurated in 1895.
It was a very popular transport, but since the 60′s it has been slowly abandoned by the locals, who prefer to use faster means of transport on their daily lives.
Nowadays, there are only three lines on the tram in Porto, which are mostly used by tourists and a few elder locals. Taking a ride on a tram in Porto is a good idea for extraordinary rides in the past!

There are really very few similarities between Porto and Lisbon – they are both near the coast, on the banks of large rivers and they have some fairly daunting hills, but that’s really where it ends. The two cities have a totally different feel and different charms, ready to be explored!
For the best trips in Porto and Lisbon, you can always count on Porto Airport Transfer and Lisbon Low Cost Transfers for the most adventurous holidays with your family and friends!

The winter is coming! December is almost here and all the people around the world is beggining the Christmas preparations and the famous shoppings for this special time of the year!
These special Christmas moments rekindle the spirit of fellowship and makes us remember even more that kindness, helping people around us, valuing the spiritual gifts, not the material ones and health are the most important and meaningful things, which have to always be cherished.

One of the most beautiful and ideal holiday destinations is of course Portugal, a splendind and warm place to enjoy unforgettable moments with your dear ones, a country rich in history and traditions, which will definitely amaze you.

The beloved holiday traditions of Portugal always include time with loved ones. But even if your family is far away – as so often happens in expat life – the country is definitely filled with the Christmas spirit.
Embrace a few Portuguese Christmas traditions, and definitely get out to see some of the holiday events around the country. You’ll start to feel more at home in no time!

Porto builds a massive Christmas tree in front of the Câmara Municipal (city hall) at the top of Avenida dos Aliados. The tree is one of the biggest in Europe, although it’s not a real tree but rather a towering assembly of scaffolding and tubes illuminated with strands of dazzling lights.
Every year, the circus comes to the Coliseu do Porto to delight the city’s inhabitants. This is an annual Christmas event.

Celebrated on December 8th, the Immaculate Conception Day, a national holiday in Portugal, it’s the official start of the Christmas season and it represents the honour of Mary, mother of Jesus. It’s after Immaculate Conception Day that Portuguese start setting up their presépios (nativity scenes), along with Christmas trees and other familiar Christmas decor.

The weeks leading up to Christmas, the main present traditions all over Portugal is the Presépio.
While Christmas trees are fairly common now, they haven’t been the fundamental Christmas decoration that they are in the US or UK. Instead, just about every house in Portugal displays a traditional presépio.
The presépio is the centerpiece of holiday decorations in Portugal, a family’s presépio being often lovingly handed down from generation to generation.
Kids in Portugal often get into the Christmas spirit by collecting moss or small stones to help decorate their family’s manger scene and lots of towns in Portugal create live nativity scenes, with people in costume (and animals) recreating the Christmas story for an adoring public.

Portuguese families gather on the night of December 24th for dinner, where Consoada is the traditional Portuguese dinner on Christmas Eve. Nearly every house will feature Portugal’s national dish, bacalhãu (dried, salted cod), as part of Consoada. Bacalhãu de Consoada is a relatively simple recipe of cod with cabbage, potatoes, boiled eggs, and a hearty amount of olive oil.

After December 24th dinner, it is customary to attend a midnight mass called ”Missa do Galo”, celebrated at midnight to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. It’s still one of the most important traditions of this season celebrations. After Mass, the tradition is to return home, place the image of the baby Jesus in the crib and begin the exchange of Christmas gifts.

On December 25th, the tradition is to have stuffed turkey. For dessert, you can not miss the ”Bolo Rei” (King Cake), and other traditional pastries such as ”Filhós”, ”Sonhos” (dreams) and Rabanadas (french toasts).
The King cake is present on every table at Christmas and symbolizes the gifts offered by the Magi to the Baby Jesus. The crust symbolizes the gold, the dried and crystallized fruits the myrrh and the aroma of the cake the incense.
Each cake has a dry fava bean inside. According to tradition, the person who got the slice of cake with the fava bean has to pay the cake the following year.

Enjoy the most beautiful holidays of the year in Porto, always counting on Porto Airport Transfer, surrounded by special moments with your family and friends and unforgettable memories!

Welcome to the one and only Porto, the wonderful city which thrills the passers-by’s eyes and hearts!

Porto is a historic city, with a beautiful uniqueness and special spirit, which carries business and trade written into its very name. The centre is a World Heritage site, and you’ll be struck by its richness and variety. There are medieval walls, gleaming Baroque churches, the compact streets of the Ribeira district, the Romanesque Cathedral and that’s just the beginning.
There are a lot of things to do in this beautiful fascinating city and definitely lots of amazing places to see and to spend a good time with your dear ones.

The art and culture lovers will definitely spend a wonderful and quality time while visiting the Serralves Museum. Serralves Museum is the foremost museum for contemporary art in Portugal, uniquely sited in the grounds of the Serralves Estate, which also comprises a Park and a Villa. Admire the Art Deco architecture of the museum and appreciate the remarkable collection of contemporary art with the Museum & Park entrance ticket. Then take a stroll in the gardens, see exotic plants and a diversity of trees.

The Nacional Museum Soares dos Reis, the former Museu Portuense and Portugal’s first art museum, was founded in 1833 when Pedro IV decided to establish a Museum of Painting and Prints in Oporto. A lot of these pieces are still on display, while much of the earlier art was taken from followers of the deposed King Miguel I. It is named for António Soares dos Reis, a 19th century sculptor from Vila Nova de Gaia on the south bank of the Douro. There are a few pieces by Soares dos Reis here as well as other vaunted Portuguese painters and sculptors like Silva Porto, Vieira Portuense, Domingos Sequeira and Miguel Ângelo Lupi.

Here in Porto you can phisically touch the romantic nostalgy of the golden old times while visiting the Romantic Museum. The Romantic Museum recreates a nineteenth-century aristocratic house. Its interior has a special charm with its rooms beautifully decorated with painting and antiques. The Museum is housed in a striking mansion, where Charles Albert of Sardinia found refuge after abdicating when he was defeated by the Imperial Austrian army. He spent the last year of his life here until he died in 1849 of tuberculosis. The rooms that visitors explore during a visit of the Romantic Museum have been redecorated in his memory.

You can continue your descovering of the city’s charm by visiting Livraria Lello, an absolutely breathtaking bookstore, one of the most emblematic bookstores in the country — and the world. It is right in the center of Porto and is part of its historical heritage.
The impressive neogothic architecture transforms this historical building in one of the most popular places in town, serving as well as a source of inspiration for those with a vivid and lush imagination. If you are a fan of the Harry Potter saga, know that this bookstore served as an inspiring setting for the author J.K. Rolling, who lived in Porto.

There are only four places in the world where the public can climb the arch of a bridge and Porto is one of them! In 1963, the Arrábida Bridge was the largest concrete arch in the world.
Since 2016, this arch has become the only one in Europe opened to visitors. It is a unique opportunity to have access to this amazing place. In the company of a guide and with all the safety equipment, even those who are dizzy can climb one of the most iconic buildings in Porto.
At the top, 65 meters above the river, you will find a quiet and relaxing place where you can enjoy unique views … and a delicious surprise!

Enjoy these remarkable places, always counting on Porto Airport Transfers!
