December is coming to Porto

December is coming to Porto – it’s already just a matter of days. Of course Christmas and the New Year’s Eve are the highlights of the season! But what do we do with ourselves while we wait in fervent anticipation of the events of the end of the month?

Here are a few ideas, as we review the best events scheduled to take place in Porto in December 2015!

The first awaited event – whose date is yet to be confirmed – is the Sao Silvestre Running Race, which is a sporting event that attracts more than 5000 people who take a midnight run through Porto from the City Hall through the cobblestone streets and the decorated city center. This rather eccentric merry race is meant to get people into the Christmas spirit as well.

On December 4th 2015, come to Mototronik Live (by Monika Kruse).

Steve Parker is also scheduled to concert in Porto on the 5th of December.

Also on the 5th of December you are invited to attend the 5th edition of Techno Lisbon in Vila Nova de Gaia. The event is made possible mostly courtesy of DJ Steve Mulder, whose efforts will bring consecrated names of the techno music world on the Portuguese stage.

Casa da Musica in Porto welcomes the famous London Community Gospel Choir on the same date. Founded in 1982 by the Reverend Meade, this ensemble is one of the most popular in the UK and has sung with artists like Eric Clapton, Madonna, Elton John and Kylie Minogue.

The same Casa da Musica invites you to admire the local Symphonic Orchestra on the 18th of December, as we prepare for Christmas with a carol concert.

And what better way to welcome the 2016 than outside, in Avenida dos Aliados, where you can count the seconds until we say Happy New Year!

In December, you can rent a car in Porto or get a Porto taxi transfer.
